Marcor Development Corp., a New Jersey-based distributor for more than 35 years of specialty chemicals and naturally derived ingredients for use in nutraceuticals, biologicals, pharmaceuticals and related applications, announced that it is being acquired by KODA Distribution Group (KDG), the leading US specialty chemical distributor.

Marcor will maintain its current management and staff, operating from its Carlstadt, NJ headquarters. Charles Garbarini, President, noted “we welcome the opportunity to be the foundation of KDG’s growth into these markets and look to offer our customers new, expanded product lines and capabilities”.

With the acquisition of Marcor, KDG plans to establish its Pharma/bionutrients business segment. Frank Bergonzi, CEO of KDG said, “Marcor is a true specialty chemical solutions provider, and they will lead us into the value added markets of bionutrients, pharmaceutical actives, fermentation, diagnostic media, nutritional products and enzymes. We are excited about Charles and his team joining forces with KDG, and we look forward to their contribution in this important specialty sector. We believe this segment has significant growth potential.” The transaction closed on January 10, 2014.
