Single-Use Mixing

BPI_A_080608AR11_O_I_77687a.jpg

Product: Flexel 3D LevMix System for Palletank containers

Application: Liquid-in-liquid mixing and solid–liquid mixing operations

Features: The new single-use mixing solution uses the LevTech levitated impeller and the Sartorius Stedim Biotech Flexel 3D bag combined with a specially developed cubical mixing tank. Major improvements in bag installation and handling paired with the efficiency and speed of traditional mixing systems make this system a good choice for the biopharmaceutical industry. The system can be applied for liquid-in-liquid mixing and solid–liquid mixing operations that require moderate to high mixing intensity such as buffer and media preparation, product formulation/reformulation, hydration/dissolution of hydrophobic powders, bulk intermediate resuspension, viral inactivation, and final formulation.

Water Decontamination

Product: AquaTec water preservation cell

Application: Biological research environments

Features: The preservation cell is designed for all types of laboratory water and for equipment from any manufacturer. It provides up to six months of protection from more than 600 types of bacteria, viruses, molds, and fungi for sample incubation and cell culture, preventing waterborne contamination in CO2 incubators and water baths. It prevents microbial contamination of water safely, without the use of harsh chemicals, requiring no special disposal protocols. Selfregulation maintains the correct level of antimicrobial concentration regardless of water level. A peel-off reminder calendar indicates when replacement is recommended.

Single-Use Sampling

Product: Bioreactor sampler

Application: Sampling bioreactors and fermentors

Features: Samples are drawn through nonreturn valves in about 15 seconds, eliminating additional risk of contamination in any type of bioreactor or fermentor including reusable glass and steel or single-use. Medical-grade materials (USP Class VI) under Class 10,000 cleanroom conditions require no cleaning or autoclaving. Capacity additional to the standard 6, 12, or 18 samples is available from individually packed modules. The unidirectional flow system ensures no sample returns to the vessel, eliminating contamination. It can be Gamma irradiated to 25-40 KGy to ensure sterility and pressure tested to assess integrity and ensure reliability.

Reference Standards

Literature: NIST Standard Reference Materials (SRMs) catalog

Application: Instrument calibration, QA assurance in industry, government, and academia

Features: The catalog lists more than 1,100 individual reference materials produced and sold by NIST, each with carefully assigned values for chemical composition and physical properties. SRMs are key mechanisms for verifying important measurements and developing new measurement methods. They provide users with tools establishing traceability of measurement results to NIST. Each comes with documentation containing assigned values with stated uncertainties, a material safety data sheet, if applicable, and details on use, stability, and NIST analytical methods.

Filtration Products

BPI_A_080608AR11_O_I_77690a.jpg

Product: Regenerated cellulose (RC) syringe filters

Application: Particulate removal and sample preparation

Features: Syringe filters remove particulates from samples, prevent buildup and blockage of chromatography columns and frits, and minimize wear and tear on injection valves, ultimately reducing system down-time and component replacement. The membranes deliver clean samples with no detectable leachates and are compatible with HPLC, GC, IC, and CE analysis. The filters offer advantages over traditional nylon membranes for preparing biological samples including proteins, peptides, and other biomolecules. The batch-traceable products are HPLC-tested for extractables, meet quality standards including ISO, DIN, and ASTM, and come with a certificate of analysis.Contact: Phenomenex Inc. www.phenomenex.com
