Bioengineering AG has 30 years of experience in the construction of hygienic plants. Thereby holistic process equipment from the feed line to the valve system for the final cleaning has become the status quo.

Our new BioAccessories department focuses on all our components and accessories. Now you do not need a Bioengineering system to be able to use our developments. For special applications we offer the possibility of custom-made or even newly developed parts.

Safety with Leak-Proof Couplings: Sterility begins in the pipelines, and flexible couplings are often a source of contamination. For maintenance, several couplings are necessary in each plant. Sterile couplings from Bioengineering provide safety without deadlegs and crevices and with seals flush with the pipe wall. Our diaphragm valves can be fitted with sterile couplings as well.

One-Way and Multiway Valves for Every Application: For over 10 years Bioengineering AG has developed and produced diaphragm valves of all sizes with various actuators and in a variety of special designs, including multiway and T-valves. These valves are not only suitable for the assembly of pharmacological and fermentation plants, but can also be used in the production of fine chemicals, semiconductors, or food. Our valves can be manufactured with different materials and surfaces, depending on the application.

Dust-Free Powder Transfer: Process problems often start with vessel filling because powder dust is undesired or prohibited in aseptic areas. For dust-free powder handling we have developed the Cup Hermann. This simple but highly efficient system directly and completely conveys powder into a one-way bag and then through an adapter in the reactor lid into the vessel. Staff members are protected, and contamination caused by elevated dust levels are minimized.

Alternative Delivery of Liquids: Sterile delivery of liquids is not always possible with every commercial pump. For the high demands in the pharma, food, and cosmetics industries the DOMP® double diaphragm pump was devised. This pump is suitable for the delivery of abrasive and/or viscous liquids or media sensitive to shear stress. The use of diaphragm valves instead of nonreturn valves, also critical for sterile applications, enables the transport of liquids in both directions — an advantage for SIP-and CIP-processes.

Mixing Without Contamination Risks: Contaminations due to tiniest leakages in agitator seals can be avoided by using hermetically sealed magnetic stirrers. The stirrer shaft is inserted without dynamic seals, which leads to optimum transmission of torque. Magnetic stirrers are available as direct-drive, belt-drive mounted into the reactor lid, or bottom-drive. They can thus be adapted for every application in sterile and hygiene areas.

Integrated Filtration for Perfusion Processes: The perfusion technique has made many processes at once simpler and more efficient because of the online filtration of product and continuous return of cell mass to the vessel. The ideal tool for perfusion is the rotor-filter. The filter surface is cleared by the centrifugal forces of the rotation, thus preventing fouling and clogging. The rotor-filter is available as an in-situ system directly integrated into a vessel or as a steam-strerilizable stand-alone bypass system that can be sterilly mounted and dismounted during the process.

Efficient Solution of All Foam Problems: Because foam appears in different consistencies and from different causes, there are several possibilities to detect and destroy it depending on the process. Common level or admittance probes that function even when overgrown are used as measurement tools to trigger foam destruction. The defoaming is accomplished with antifoam agents dosed with pumps or, to prevent chemical contamination, with a motor driven foam separator with active foam recycling.

Measurement and Control in Special Areas: In constant cooperation with our customers, we not only brought to perfection the standard loops of temperature, pH, and pO2, we also established ourselves in a variety of measurement and control technology niches. Thus the weight probe Bio-Level was created for accurate and continuous volume measurement without scales. For noninvasive sterilization control, we apply temperature sleeves (Pt100) attached at crucial areas of pipes. The level probe Bio-Watch is a simple device to detect the filling status of vessels or tubing.

Contained and Aerosol-Free Sampling: Sampling often bears risks for people and the environment. In biotechnological processes, sometimes infectious material must be sampled; in pharmacological production, samples are often highly allergenic, toxic, or carcinogenic. The Hi Containment Sampling system protects the people involved as well as the sample itself, because it is a closed system and thus functions without aerosol formation. Using a stand-alone timer or a process contol system, the sampling — including SIP and CIP — is fully automated and documented according to the most severe regulations.
